Upper Penninsula Lighthouses & Waterfalls

It's another summer of lighthouse hunting in Michigan with Wendy. This year we decided to head up to the Upper Penninsula and see 9 new lighthouses. I also threw in some waterfalls and part of the Pictured Rock National Lakeshore. The weather was so crazy up there... one minute it would be nice and the other it would be pouring like no other!! We were very lucky that all the times we got out of the car it wasn't raining. Yesterday we hiked about 6 miles to get to the sites. We're both very tired of the rain but are so glad we saw so much and didn't get dumped on. We weren't able to make it on the ferry ride to see the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore because of the rain and dense fog yesterday and the day before. Bummer! We decided that we'll throw that in next year. :) Wendy's glad we're back so she can get a good night's sleep... appearently I'm the queen of snoring. I didn't hear anything! ;)

Graduation Party

I had a small graduation party on Saturday to celebrate my masters degree. Here are some of the photos from the party.
Thanks Mom & Dad for all you've done over the years. Thanks for your
support throughout my education.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for being such proud and supportive grandparents.

Marilyn and I worked at Cyprus together about 6 years ago.
Chaine & Greg have been great friends for about 17 years.
Kendra and I worked together at Kennedy. Thanks Kendra for letting us party at your place!

Jorge and I work together at Kennedy.

It was tons of fun and wasn't without a bit of excitement as we ended the day. I ended up laying in the clubhouse in pain from a kidney stone, Grandma got sick from the heat, and Mackenzie fell down and scraped up both knees.

Las Vegas Trip

My vacation filled summer has officially begun. I just spent the last 3 days with Lisa and the girls in Las Vegas. We had tons of fun and walked our feet right off. We packed as much as possible in the few days we had.. swimming (of course; it was 120 degrees the first day!), Mandolay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York New York, MGM Grand and the lion exhibit, Flamingo, Caesars, M&M World, Bellagio fountain show, and Fremont Street.

Exciting 4th of July!

Well, the 4th of July wasn't without lots of fireworks!! Lisa and the girls came to watch the fireworks with me and then spent the remainder of the night, and part of the morning, watching the huge fire that started on Kennecott's dike. It was pretty scary for a while since we were only about a mile away. It started about 10:30pm on the west end of the dike and burned to the east end by about 1:30am. I got some great pictures though (of course). There were tons of people out watching the fire. They were lined up and down 8400 and 8000 West. There were police and firefighters all over trying to keep control. It'll be a 4th of July I won't forget!
